SEWN WITH DREAMS

Yards of lace
Dozens of sequins and beads
Fabric, white
Crisp as snow;
Time yellowed.
Fragile beadwork
Created by loving hands.
Trained, talented
Dream makers.

Only a dress;
A beautiful dress
Designed with care.
Stolen sleeve from one,
Neckline from another.
Semi-cathedral train
Trailing after
Sharing visions
Of precious bond.

Symbol of love;
Two lives
Entwined together,
Unceasing.

Enchanting? Perhaps.
Promises given
To a naive heart.
Bewitching deception.
Shattered void
Shredded carelessly;
Tossed downward.
Heart-ache overwhelms
Dominates essence.

Precious dress
Not a symbol;
Just a dress.
Normal clothing,
Fancier, perhaps.
Buried in a box
An offering;
Feast for moths
And silverfish.
